Caring for familiars and recovering their bond
Planned feature
Learn how owls and toads help, and how to bring a familiar back after retreat.
Helpful company
The planned owl gives nearby magical-trace warnings. The toad gives a small cultivation-readiness cue. Neither familiar tracks players or shares their locations. Trust comes from appropriate food and repeated non-hostile care, not a cash-shop unlock. Exact foods, wild sources and habitat entries are still unspecified.
The design allows one accompanying familiar per player. Other bonded familiars rest at a recorded owned home. Permission and safe placement still matter when summoning; a bond does not grant access to another player’s claim.
When a familiar retreats
Defeat sends a familiar into retreat without death loot or deleting the bond. The initial recovery default is 10 minutes at home. This is real elapsed time, including logout; resummoning still requires a safe permitted location. Returning instantly through relog or buying another item is not the recovery rule.
The intended feedback should distinguish retreat from permanent loss. If a recovered familiar cannot appear, check safety and permission at home rather than assuming the bond was removed.
A cared-for toad pair
Breeding starts with a bounded cared-for pair of toads, producing one offspring when the required habitat, food and cooldown are satisfied. Those exact conditions and the cooldown value have not been selected, so no complete breeding recipe is available yet. Breeding will not provide unlimited ingredients; no offspring loot has been specified.
Familiar recovery is separate from Animagus transformation: a companion is a bonded creature, while an animal form is your personal learned identity.
